FOLLOWING the letter of January 27 from Tom Mitchell on his change of heart and his wish for the UK to stay in the European Community, we are still left wondering, apart from the news that the EU needs to be reformed, what has changed his mind.
We are still paying eyewatering amounts of money to the EU on a daily basis; the auditors still refuse to sign off the European accounts; millions in taxpayers’ cash is still being sent in benefits to non-domicile children.
Decisions of the Court of Human Rights and the sovereignty of British laws are still in the hands of Brussels.
And we now have as the President of Europe a former prime minister of Switzerland and the architect of all the tax avoidance schemes so popular in the UK.
Following the bruising that Greece is about to get at the hands of Angela & Co and the EU Presidency passing to the UK in late 2017, I hope the chance of a referendum was not the reason for such a dramatic change of heart. Come on back, Tom – we were missing you already.
