A POOL tournament has been staged in Selby in memory of a well known player who collapsed and died recently.
John Richardson, a much-loved grandfather from Selby, died the night before his 59th birthday after collapsing in Leeds Road while walking home. He had long-standing heart problems.
The tournament, which also involved a speed pool contest, took place at Selby Working Men's Club on Saturday and involved 39 players from the local ETS UK Ltd Monday night pool league, of which John was a member.
The event raised £625 for the British Heart Foundation, said league secretary Dave Fisher.
