PANTO audiences have dug deep to boost York Theatre Royal's fundraising drive to help pay for a major redevelopment.
Staff holding buckets for small change have raised more than £15,000 so far since Old Mother Goose opened on December 11.
During the show's famous songsheet moment – in which the audience is split in half and has to compete to sing the loudest – the UK’s longest-running and much-loved Dame, Berwick Kaler, has been taking a moment to ask the audience to help raise the last £500,000 of the £4.1million needed for the imminent revamp.
The audience of Northern Broadsides’ She Stoops to Conquer also raised £4,827 during their week-long production in November.
