A 29-year-old man remains in hospital following a four-vehicle crash in North Yorkshire on New Years Eve.
The man, from Guisborough, is in a serious but stable condition following the crash, which happened on the A171 Whitby to Guisborough road, near Ugthorpe, south of the turn-off towards Scaling Dam, at 5.15pm.
North Yorkshire Police said the crash involved a black Vauxhall Vectra travelling towards Guisborough, and a silver Toyota Aygo, a white Ford Grand C-Max and silver Skoda Octavia which were all travelling in the direction of Whitby.
The seriously injured man was in the Vectra and he was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries.
The drivers and passengers in the other vehicles escaped with slight injuries.
Any witnesses to the collision or anyone with information that could assist the investigation, should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101.
