BEFORE the knockers and critics get going, can I just say that the TV programmes dished up over Christmas on ITV and especially the dear old BBC were splendid. Let me explain why.

On Christmas Eve we had Toy Story 3 and lots of drama emerging in EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

On Christmas Day on BBC, a fantastic Strictly Come Dancing with Bruce back, Miranda, Call The Midwife and Mrs Brown’s Boys. On ITV a two-hour return of the superb Downton Abbey.

These were followed by Victoria Wood, Christmas Cracker with Bradley Walsh and a new series of Birds Of A Feather.

Finally, Bruce’s Hall of Fame and an All Star Family Fortunes Xmas Special. Fab.
