IN the earlier part of this year while waiting to pick someone up in Eboracum Way, I noticed two of the street lights were out.

This part of Heworth is connected by a busy pathway from Layerthorpe. It carries school children, students, shoppers for the nearby supermarket, office workers and residents for the flats bordering the road.

The area is busy with cars coming and going, and people crossing here. With poor lighting it’s an accident waiting to happen.

The council told me it was nothing to do with them as the upkeep of the road and the lighting still belonged to the developer.

I decided to contact the developer in London and was told the lighting would be fixed.

Of course when the dark nights have come back, the same two lights are still out. Further attempts with council representatives have come to nothing.

Is there anybody out there who can get two lights fixed in Eboracum Way before there is an accident?
