A TRAVEL scheme supported by North Yorkshire County Council has won a Modeshift National Sustainable Travel Award for its work with partners on improvements to cycling and pedestrian infrastructure in Harrogate.
Modeshift is a Lottery-funded organisation which supports long term investment in sustainable travel. It recognised the council’s Open Harrogate scheme in the Community category for its pedestrian signs linked to electronic media, new website, and smartphone app which helps visitors explore the town.
County Cllr Gareth Dadd, said: “It’s great for our work in sustainable travel to be recognised.”This has been a massive year for our services and our staff have made great efforts in delivering a substantial Local Sustainable Transport Fund Programme in Harrogate alongside the delivery of the Tour de France.”
