FAMILIES and fundraisers are invited to don Santa suits to take part in a festive fun run.

The British Heart Foundation’s York Chase the Pud challenge, a Santa walk and fun run, will take place on Knavesmire on Sunday December 7. Registered participants will be loaned Santa suits.

People are being urged to sign up to the event by consultant cardiologists at York Hospital who will also take part in the run.

Dr Maurice Pye said: “We wanted to support the fundraising efforts of the British Heart Foundation York Committee of volunteers by encouraging everyone to support their upcoming York Chase the Pud challenge. There are an estimated 5.8 million people living with cardiovascular disease, CVD, in England.

“Funds raised by local volunteers and events like York Chase the Pud will help more people survive a heart attack or cardiac arrest, and ensure that patients and their families receive the best possible support, information and care. Taking part in this event is a great way to support a vital cause and get into the festive spirit.”

Entry is £10 for adults and free to children under 14. The British Heart Foundation York volunteers are asking everyone to register as early as possible, from today, so they can reserve enough Santa suits – a limited number will also be available for people who register on the day. People are asked to register now, online at www.bhf.org.uk/chasethepud
