Further events
LIKE all great parties, Le Grand Départ comes with a hangover (Grand Debacle, The Press, November 12).
We all got swept up by the event, not least our council which seems to have fallen under the spell of a cash-strapped Welcome to Yorkshire, whose charismatic boss was the inspiration behind the event.
Nevertheless, it would be good to follow up the Grand Départ next year with further cycling events which are safely managed, where we know the cost in advance and who will be picking up the bill.
