I AM pleased that City of York Council appears to be ruling out plans for a fenced-off luxury boat park alongside the River Ouse south of the Millennium Bridge (The Press, October 17).

Cllr Andy D’Agorne and local residents are right to raise concerns about the loss of this public land and the impact it would have on vegetation and wildlife.

Although the spot lies outside of Fulford parish, it would have a number of direct consequences for the many Fulford residents who walk along the river.

Because of this, I objected to the application and requested that the council extend the consultation deadline to ensure that all local residents and groups have a chance to consider the proposals and have their say.

I hope that these local views will now be properly heard and the council ensures that the plans do not go any further.

Cllr Keith Aspden, Fulford Ward, Heath Moor Drive, York.
