A CHARITY curry evening has been organised to raise money for the Lord Mayor of York’s chosen charities for this year, York Against Cancer and York Teaching Hospital Charity.
Organisers of the event at the Jinnah Restaurant on the A64, Malton Road, on Wednesday, October 15, are hoping to raise as much money as possible for the good causes with a Kashmiri buffet, a quiz and a raffle offering more than 15 prizes, including two VIP tickets for any Sunder - land FC Premier League match at the Stadium of Light.
Kirsten Ovenden, one of the organisers, said the prize was just one of many guests could win.
She said: “The prize, which is worth over £600, includes champagne and canapés on arrival, a three- course meal pre-match, tea and cakes at half time, pastries post match and the opportunity to go on a tour of the stadium as well as a chance to meet players and win a signed ball.
“’I’d really like to make this a very successful evening for the Lord Mayor’s charities.”
The money raised will go towards the two main fundraising goals for the charities this year; a life-saving machine which would enable kidney patients to manage their own treatment for York Teaching Hospital, and for York Against Cancer, the purchase of a new mini bus to take patients from York to radiotherapy and chemotherapy in Leeds.
For more information and for tickets phone the Jinnah on 01904 468202.
