ONCE again, may I, through the columns of the Letters page, dispute Cynthia Glasby’s claim that Chris Broad, Stuart Broad’s father, captained England (with reference to her letter of July 24, 2013, my letter of July 31 and a further letter from Cynthia in August 2013).
I have acquired an email from Chris Broad after making a donation to “thebroadappeal.org”, a charity set up by Chris and his late wife, Miche, for motor neurone disease, a condition Miche suffered.
His reply confirmed my opinion that he never captained any form of international cricket. As I said in my letter, he did say he captained Orange Free State (South Africa) for one season, but not at a recognised international level.
I hope Cynthia Glasby will understand that this is not a points-scoring attempt, but merely a desire to see the printed word reflect true fact.
