DREADNOUGHT Dringhouses began the new York FA Under-19s Football League season just where they left off.

There were so signs of scoring boots going rusty over the summer as the Dringhouses crew crushed Acomb Athletic 13-0 in the opening game.

Liam Robertson led the way with a four-goal haul followed by three apiece for brothers Cameron and Matthew Mulhearn, a brace of strikes from Tom Hawksby and a lone effort by James Hudson.

Haxby were also on the goal standard to wallop newcomers Wilberfoss 7-1.

The seven-up spree was shared between George Rhodes, Tom Barnes, Rowan Todd, Harry Moorcroft, Joe Sutton, Dan Clipston and Liam Brighton. Dan Jacques got the Wilberfoss reply.

Another new outfit - York Cubs - fared much better.

They travelled to Fulford, where they posted an emphatic 5-0 win.

Ed Chapman was the hosts’ chief tormentor with a hat-trick, augmented by goals from Dom Kitching and Paul Hodgson.

Thorpe United beat York RI by the same 5-0 margin.

On target were Jake Raistrick (2), Elliot Precious (2) and Jordan Leybourn.

Tockwith shattered Stillington 8-1, with half the tally poached by Jack Swindlehurst. Thomas Robinson (2), Ben Blackwood and Harry Stobbart completed the rout.

Stillington’s consolation was nabbed by Ross Hardman.

The surprise of the day was that the exchange between Rawcliffe and Wigginton remained blank as the dull draw petered out.
