AT THE beginning of July, I emailed First Bus Group in York regarding the noisy engines on their fleet of Volvos. I did this at the request of other local residents who had also written but received no reply.
Nor have I so far, but anyone doing a Google search will find several pages on the problem which seems to have occurred on other fleets throughout the UK as well.
Questions have also been asked in the House of Commons and London Transport has had its buses modified to reduce the noise.
I am not sure if they were completely satisfied with the result, but I would like to know what First in York are doing about the problem which seems to be caused by the noise of the fan in the air-cooling system.
I would imagine residents who live on the bus routes are suffering considerable inconvenience caused by the noise, not just during the day but particularly in the early mornings and late evenings.
Have other residents had a problem with the bus noise? If so, have they tried to contact 1st and did they get a reply? It would be nice to know what our bus company is doing to try to solve the problem in York.
