HOW I agree with Cllr Brian W J E Watson (Letters, August 15). I cannot believe that York Council are reducing the amount of public conveniences in both Exhibition Square and have already done so in Union Terrace. Particularly in Union Terrace, where coaches and cars park to visit our city.

On average a coach has 52 seats and presuming that after a lengthy coach trip the majority of the passengers will need the toilet. I am presuming that the two unisex toilets will have the wash basin and hand dryer inside the cubicle, so on average it will take a person around two minutes. So if I was the last person off that coach desperate for the toilet I could possibly have a 52 minute wait.

This is also assuming that my coach is the only one there, and I do not have to join a queue from a previous coach.

Multiply this by the number of coaches that visit in a day, plus private cars, and in theory I could spend most of my day waiting for the toilet instead of spending my money in the city. Where do these ludicrous ideas come from?
