THE Rotary Club of York Vikings has raised more than £2,800 for an organisation supporting women and children who have fled domestic abuse.
Club president Peter Acaster has presented a cheque for £2,855 to Corrina Dobson, of the Independent Domestic Abuse Service (IDAS), which is based in York.
The club, which has supported the charity for a number of years at Christmas decided to help with a series of summer events.
It funded a series of activities ranging from a simple trip to the local swimming pool to trips to the seaside over the school holiday period, saying some of the families had never had holidays and some of the children had never seen the sea.
