CITY of York Council is reminding anyone caring for a young person – who is not a close relative – for longer than a month to contact the authority.
All Private Fostering arrangements lasting more than 28 days need to be reported to the local council, and children’s social care worker Nik Flavell, said: “We know that there are a number of private care arrangements in place for young people in York, but often neither their parents or carers realise that there is a legal requirement for them to let the council know.
“We can then carry out an assessment to make sure that the arrangements are safe and satisfactory for all concerned.”
