WITH reference to the “weed” orange hawkweed Hieracium aurantiacum, mentioned in Gina Parkinson’s “In the garden” article of June 28, many years ago we visited the house where Mrs Pumphrey from the series All Creatures Great And Small lived and I acquired two plants out of the dozens growing in the garden.
We have always called it Trickey Woo after her dog and, yes, you have to keep it at bay or it will take over your garden.
