YORK'S historic Mansion House played host to a number of invited guests to mark the start of Armed Forces Week.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr Ian Gillies, and the Civic Party welcomed members of the Royal British Legion and Ex-Services Associations to an event on Monday.
Cllr Gillies said: “I was delighted to welcome past and present members of the Armed Forces and it was great to meet them. It is only fitting that York, as a garrison city since AD71, can officially recognise the courage of our servicemen and women and their families and the sacrifices that they make by flying the Armed Forces Standard above the Mansion House.”
City of York Council is also show its support for Armed Forces Week by flying the Armed Forces Standard above the Mansion House throughout this week.
