THE sails on York's Holgate Windmill have been decorated with bunting to celebrate the arrival of the Tour De France next month.
The Holgate Windmill Preservation Society says the mill should look spectacular if there is enough wind to turn the sails during the mill's two open weekends next month.
The first takes place on July 5 and 6, when it will coincide with the race's Grand Depart from York on Sunday July 6, and the second will be staged on July 19 and 20.
Inside the mill, there is also a special exhibition called Cogs in honour of the cycle race, which illustrates the similarities between bicycles and windmills and is part of the city's Festival of Ideas.
The opening hours are 11am-4pm, with admission costing £3 for adults and £1 for children aged 5-18.
Meanwhile, the mill is being awarded a plaque by The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) Mills Section to recognise the high quality of the restoration work
