HEARTLESS thieves have stolen a golden chain and locket from a grave at a York cemetery.
North Yorkshire Police said the locket contained pictures of the owner’s parents, and the thieves also stole four plastic hearts on sticks.
The theft happened overnight between last Thursday and Friday at Fordlands Road cemetery in Fulford.
A force spokesman said: “It is beyond belief that someone could stoop so low as to steal what is clearly a treasured family memento and items of little monetary value from a grave.
“This utterly heartless and cruel act has naturally left the victim feeling deeply upset.
“If anyone has any information which can help to identify the callous thief, I urge them to contact the police immediately.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
