A WOMAN was punched in the face by a man in York in the early hours of today.
The 21-year-old woman was walking along Farrar Street, near Lawrence Street, at about 2.20am when she was approached by a man who hit her three times in the face, causing a cut to her eye.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the man was olive-skinned, possibly middle eastern or from eastern Europe, aged between 20 and 25-years-old, about 5ft 10in tall, well built with dark hair, a round face and thick eyebrows. He was wearing a pale long sleeved shirt with a pale vertically striped pattern on it and beige chinos.
Police have urged anyone who saw the incident, and taxi drivers who may have been in the area, to contact them on 101, email ben.hutchinson@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
