A 15-YEAR-OLD girl was injured in a collision with a Volkswagen estate near York last night.
The girl was taken to York District Hospital after the accident, which happened outside the army barracks, in Strensall Road, Strensall.
Sgt Dave Hopper, of York Police, said: "She may be in hospital for a couple of days but her injuries are not life-threatening. We initially thought they were serious, but we've now downgraded them."
A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it had taken the girl to hospital.
Police were unable to confirm the nature of the girl's injuries or whether she was from the local area.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Sgt Hopper said that police were investigating the cause of the collision.
The road was closed for several hours after the incident, which occurred at about 7.30pm.
It re-opened just after 10.15pm.
Police are appealing to anyone who saw any youths near the bus shelter outside the barracks prior to 7.30pm and to anyone who might have witnessed the collision to phone them on 0845 60 60 247.
