BOMB disposal experts are investigating a suspected explosive device in Pocklington - the second time in a week they have been called to the town.
It is the second device to be found in West Green, where builders are currently working.
The alarm was raised at 3pm today and five police officers are also at the scene.
The road has been closed and a cordon of 100m around the site has been set up to protect the public.
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: "EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Officers are assessing the uncovered ordnance and will make safe as soon as possible.
"Humberside Police are advising people to avoid the area until such a time as the devise has been made safe or removed.
"West Green has been closed and a cordon is in place until further notice."
Last Thursday, police were called to the same site after builders found what looked to be an empty shell.
The Explosive Ordinance Disposal team took it away.
