YORK’S top two teams battled it out at Bootham Crescent for the York FA Under-15s Intermediate Senior Minor Cup, with Rawcliffe Tigers beating Woodthorpe Wanderers on penalties.

Woodthorpe’s Owen Gibson and Cameron Loftus went close before team-mate Liam Potter broke the deadlock, volleying in from a corner kick.

Oliver Murray then made it two goals in two minutes before Jarrad Benson headed home from a corner to pull a goal back for Rawcliffe before half-time. After the break, Rawcliffe caused problems for the league champions and netted an equaliser through Jamie Butt.

Woodthorpe’s James Smith hit a 40-yard screamer onto the bar and watched as the ball came off the Rawcliffe keeper and into the net.

Rawcliffe were awarded a free-kick with seconds to go and the rebound was knocked in by Jack Daniel.

Jamie Butt scored the winning kick as Rawcliffe triumphed 5-4 on penalties.

Fulford won the York FA U13s Junior Minor final, sponsored by Pavers Shoes, comfortably beating Pocklington Town 6-0 at Bootham Crescent.

Isaac Overton opened the scoring when he drilled the ball home from 25 yards. He then won a penalty which Harrison Mussell converted.

Pocklington’s Will Hobson had a good chance to pull a goal back, but he was denied by Fulford’s Stephen Murtagh. After the break, Town’s Eddie Clarke had another chance to half the deficit but was again thwarted by Murtagh. Overton extended Fulford’s lead when he volleyed in from a corner, before completing his hat-trick and then adding a fourth goal from 30 yards. The final goal came from Dan Richards.

Pocklington claimed spot kick glory after their York FA Under-16s Senior Minor Cup final with Wigginton Grasshoppers ended goalless.

Both sides were evenly matched throughout with a Sam Jefferson thunderbolt for Pock tipped over by Wiggy keeper James Eden and Huw Jones also hitting the post for the eventual winners.

Pock’s Harry Crusher had a goal disallowed for a foul on 50 minutes and Eden pulled off several fine saves. It was Pocklington keeper Sam Flinton who was the hero in the shoot-out, though, saving three penalties as Pock won 3-1.

York FA chairman Dave Morrill presented the trophy, which was sponsored by Pavers Shoes.

York Cubs beat Copmanthorpe 5-3 to take the U14s Intermediate (Junior) Minor Cup final.

Cubs started on top, with Tom Flatters heading just past the Copmanthorpe post, but it was not until 20 minutes when Noah Hindles 30-yard shot gave them the lead. It was short-lived as Jordan Southwell threaded the ball through for a Copmanthorpe equaliser.

Two minutes later, Cubs took the lead again through Lucas Hindle but again Copmanthorpe bounced back as Southwell made sure the scores were level at 2-2 at half-time.

On 37 minutes, following a cross from the right, Adam Hendry headed Cubs back into the lead and that was extended by Dave Barber with a close range header on 50 minutes. Keenan Crake made it five for Cubs and Joe Stilgoe scored a great consolation goal for Copmanthorpe on 69 minutes.

The trophy was presented by York FA president Roy Ellwood.
