PEOPLE in the East Riding of Yorkshire are being asked to give their views on new guidance on travel planning and parking provision for new planning applications in the county.

The document identifies when travel planning is needed for a planning application and helps make sure new developments have enough parking for bikes, motorbikes and vehicles, and is part of the council's emerging Local Plan.

A draft is now available for local people to comment on before a final version is sent back to the council's cabinet for approval.

Once completed, the East Riding Local Plan will be used to determine planning applications until 2029. It will set out the amount of development allowed in each town and village housing, retail, employment and open space, and where the building should take place.

The plan will be submitted to the secretary of state in April and will be followed by an examination in public, chaired by an independent planning inspector.
