RUNNERS from Cancer Research UK danced in Parliament Street, York, to raise money and awareness for the disease.
The dancers were members of a York Race For Life team, and took part in the ‘Cancer Slam’ – a dance of defiance to motivate women to sign up for the race yesterday.
The ‘Cancer Slam’ will be performed by thousands of women as part of the warm-up at more than 280 Race for Life events around the country this summer.
Philippa Sharpe, York event manager, said: “We’re so excited about taking part in the Cancer Slam and we’ve had a great time learning the routine.
“We hope we can inspire women to join in the fun and enter their local Race for Life event. Cancer touches so many of us, that’s why we want to do everything we can to motivate women to power up the pink and show cancer who’s boss.” The Race for Life 5km event takes place at York Racecourse on June 22.
