HAMBLETON District Council is overwhelmingly controlled by the Conservative Party.

Of its 47 seats, 36 are in the hands of the Tories, with five Independents the next largest group.

Of the remaining big political parties, Labour have only two seats and the Liberal Democrats hold four. The council serves the Vale of York area, including Crayke and Easingwold, as well as the Northallerton and Thirsk districts.
