TWO veteran York swimmers have been ranked fifth in the latest national rankings.
Peter Kendrew and Duncan Brown are two of seven members of York City Baths Club to earn top 20 placings based on collated results over 50 metres throughout the country.
Kendrew was the fifth fastest freestyle swimmer aged over 65, clocking 31.53 seconds and was also fifth in the backstroke with 40.23.
Brown, who swims in the 55+ section, achieved fifth pace in the butterfly in 32.98. He was also sixth in the freestyle (29.80) and 12th in the backstroke with 38.79.
A 50m butterfly time of 28.04 was enough to give Richard Smith 11th spot in the 25+ section.
Carol Brown was the top York woman, finishing ninth in the 55+ freestyle in 38.46. She was also 12th in the backstroke in 48.28.
Pat Baxter finished 13th in both the 65+ freestyle and backstroke, clocking 52.06 in the former and 58.99 in the backstroke.
Denise Rymer managed 19th. place in the 35+ butterfly with 36.78.
