THE first primary school in Selby district to receive an "outstanding" report from OFSTED is "too modest" about its own high standards.
That was the verdict of inspectors from the schools' standards agency, who visited Longman's Hill Community Primary School, in Myrtle Avenue, Brayton, in December.
The school received the top grade for overall effectiveness of the school, and in all sub-categories, except curriculum.
Inspector Lesley Clark said: "This is an outstanding school where pupils think teachers are better than fantastic.
"The school is too modest in its assessment of how good it is, illustrating its desire to be better still.
"While acknowledging that care, support and guidance are outstanding, it believes that everything else is either good or satisfactory, because there is always more to do.
Head teacher Jane Guy said: "We're over the moon. It's a great report.
"All the areas which were looked into were found to be outstanding."
