THESE posties and their pals are hoping to deliver a bumper charity parcel to sick children.

The Post Office's two delivery offices in the city - York West and York Central - will go head-to-head in a charity football match tomorrow to raise money for Macmillian Cancer Support.

Kick-off is at 6.30pm, at the Railway Institute Sports Club, in Hamilton Drive, in Holgate.

Mike Boyes, York West delivery manager, who helped organise the event, said: "We're all really excited about the football match.

"We're hoping as many people as possible will turn up on the evening to support us, so we can raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile charity.

"There's always a bit of rivalry between the two delivery teams, and we thought we could put that to a positive use."

There will be a raffle of Leeds United memorabilia on the night and Macmillian will be collecting funds at the match.

Royal Mail has pledged to match any money raised for the event up to £500.

Lucy Watson, a community fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "We're delighted to be working with the Post Office for its charitable football match.

"You don't need to be a nurse to help people living with cancer. By attending this event, you can make a real difference to people living with cancer, and their families."
