A NOVICE sheepdog contest in the style of One Man And His Dog will take place this weekend.
The trials will take place at Charity Farm, at Skipwith, on Sunday, from 10am, and will be open to the public.
The event will bring dog handlers from Yorkshire and northern England to compete with their young border collies.
The dogs will be working the Escrick Park Estate's flock of Hebridean sheep that graze the land of Skipwith Common Nature Reserve.
All the cash raised will be donated to the Friends of Skipwith Common, a local volunteer group set up to support the management of the common, which has full public access.
The group meets regularly and arranges organised walks and talks around the common as well as helping with the livestock round-ups and shearing days.
