YORK has been named as the future 3D printing capital of the UK with the city home to more potential customers than anywhere else in the country.

Research by 3D printer manufacturer CEL Robox, revealed 42 per cent of people questioned in York said they were interested in buying a 3D printer over the next 12 months - the highest percentage in the UK.

The research, which polled 1000 consumers, reveals that 31 per cent of Brits are considering buying a 3D printer this year.

Of these, almost a third of people, 30 per cent, would like to create custom or personalised items for the home such wall art and picture frames, and a quarter would use it to produce replacement parts and fixings such as wall hooks and specialist tools.
