BOOTHAM ‘B’ consolidated their position as leaders of the York Conservative Clubs’ Faber Shield Billiards League with a 5-1 defeat of Acomb.
Mick Borg (28 break) won the first game, then Alf Appleby, Paul Mahoney, Tony Lambert and Tim Fillingham, plus the aggregate, made it 5-1.
Fulford moved into second place and pushed Acomb down to third as they recorded a 5-1 victory over bottom side Bootham ‘A’.
Wayne Puleston (26 break), Glen Mountain (29 break), Terry Ward (40, 37 and 33 breaks) and Alan Reed decided the result before Stuart Martel sneaked home for Bootham.
Fulford are 3.5 points behind the leaders and Acomb are a further point adrift.
Richard Lillie’s defeat for Acomb meant Fillingham moved into the lead in the Cameo Engraving player of the year competition with seven wins in eight games. Lillie has seven wins in nine games.
