A MAN has been seriously injured after being hit by a taxi as he crossed the road in York.
The 31-year-old was crossing Boroughbridge Road when he was in a collision with a silver Octavia taxi travelling towards the city centre.
He had been crossing the road from Carr Lane towards Ouse Acres when the crash happened at 12.15am.
The man suffered a serious head injury and this afternoon was in a stable condition in Leeds General Infirmary, North Yorkshire Police said.
Traffic Constable Andy Morton, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or were in the Boroughbridge Road area at the time of the collision, I ask you to contact the police straight away.
“I am particularly keen to trace the driver of a dark coloured vehicle waiting to turn right from Boroughbridge Road into Carr Lane around the time of the collision, as I believe they may have vital information which could assist my inquiries.”
Anyone who can assist with this investigation should contact York police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Andy Morton.
Alternatively, information can be emailed to andrew.morton@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
