THE battle of the Selby clubs in Men's Division Two of the York Badminton League saw Selby/Drax emerge as 6-3 winners over Selby Jubilee.

Steve Parr and Phil Brunyard led the Drax charge with three wins for 146-103 while Andy Hatfield and Pete Murphy replied with two Jubilee wins.

Knavesmire hit good home form to defeat University Students B' 6-3 in Men's Division Three. Unbeaten Dave Brogden and Andy Limbert were the top home pair with a return of 128-104.

Clifton kept up their improvement with an 8-1 win at Nestl Rowntree in Ladies Division One. Karen Broster and Shelagh Barker shone for the visitors with 126-79. Helen Shepherd and Joan Emmerson were the confectionery side's sole winners.

York RI A' clocked up their eighth consecutive win in Mixed Division One with a 7-2 victory at Selby/Drax A' and a 9-0 home demolition of Shepherds A'.

Undefeated Tim Jarvis and Kate Jackson led the way against Selby with 170-147 including a tough 18-21, 21-15, 21-18 win over Michelle Hall and Scott Anderson, who won twice. Chris Hunt and Kate Jackson headed the Institute averages against Shepherds with three straight wins for 126-72.

Selby/Drax A' bounced back in their next match with a 6-3 home success over luckless Shepherds A'. Hall and Anderson did the damage with three wins for 145-122.

Clifton A' scored an expected 8-1 win over their B' team club mates in Mixed One. Daniel Woolfsen and Shelagh Barker led the A' team charge with all three in straight games for 128-91. Phil Sinton and Ronnie Davison took the B' team consolation point.

Huntington A' had mixed fortunes in Mixed Two. They lost 8-1 at home to University Students A' and then beat Clifton C' 6-3 in their next home fixture. Sarah Myers and Jonty Hiley were untouchable for the students with 126-83. The Clifton match saw Huntington B' player John Deighton combine with Theresa Roberts-Hardy for 140-143 from three wins.

The University Students' improvement continued with their Mixed B' side scoring a 7-2 away win over Pocklington in Division Three. Nikki Farr and Duy Nguyen upset the formbook with three student wins for 126-72, including a 14 and 16 over the top Pock pairing of Chris Kunkel and Sally Howat.

Tadcaster 86 B' moved into second place in Mixed Five after a 6-3 home win over RI Tuesday/Thursday C'. Pat Ambler and Dave Thompson won three times for RI for 135-97 display, but Jenny Duxbury and Geoff Gill sealed the Tad win with a 19-21, 21-16, 32-20 over Bill Clemmit and J Lynch.
