DUCK racers in a village near York had a "quacking" time at their annual New Year's Day outdoor fundraiser.
About a hundred people turned out to Escrick's duck race which raises money for Escrick CE Primary School's Parent Teacher Association.
The village beck, next to Carr Lane, was a sea of vibrant colour yesterday as hundreds of plastic ducks were raced down it.
The Rev Richard Kirkman, vicar of Escrick, Naburn and Stillingfleet, who provided some of the commentary for the event, said: "It was so exciting. We were absolutely quackers!
"It was fast and furious because the beck was quite full after all the recent rain."
