YORK’S Dave Stroughair had a day to remember in national competitions.
He won his Champion of Champions Singles area play-off final against Thornaby’s Paul Mosley at Scarborough IBC on Sunday morning.
The Thanet Road bowler then raced to Featherstone to help Paul Mooring’s over-50s triples team reach their area final.
In the singles, Stroughair came from 10-9 down to go into the 20th end 17-15 ahead.
Mosley laid three shots but moved the jack into the open, allowing Stroughair to drive the jack into the ditch with his last bowl to pick up three shots.
He then dropped a two but responded with a single to take a place in the national finals with a single. The final score was 21-17.
Meanwhile, Mooring’s team beat Andy Lockwood’s side 22-11.
