A NEW survey has ranked maternity services at Harrogate District Hospital as one of the best in the country.
The survey, conducted by the Care Quality Commission, assessed the experience of women who used the maternity services at the hospital.
Harrogate was the only hospital in the north of England and one of only four in the country to score better than most other trusts in all three areas of questioning.
Jan Chaplin, deputy chief nurse and head of midwifery at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are delighted that our maternity service has been named one of the very best in England by the most important people – the women and their partners who use our service.
“Our compassionate, dedicated and hardworking team always do their best to provide high quality care. While we know that sometimes we don’t get it all right, it is good to know that women feel we are doing a good job and we continually review our services to make further improvements.”
The survey comes shortly after the service at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust was reaccredited by UNICEF as “baby friendly”.
