REFUGEE Action York (RAY) has won a bronze award for its Turkish classes.

The organisation runs weekly classes for young children including asylum seekers, refugees and migrants, at The Hub at Clifton Children’s Centre.

It also offers Turkish alongside English for adults, information and support, maths classes, craft activities, speakers, homework support and shared meals.

It has now received a bronze award from The National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE).

Mary McCormack, trustee of RAY, said: “Everyone at RAY is delighted with the award and determined to continue working to achieve the Silver Award as soon as possible. We are also very grateful to all at the NRCSE and at our mentor school in London, Shpresa Programme, for all their on-going support and infectious enthusiasm for supplementary education.”
