Congratulations to Canon Lee School in York, which has been told by government inspectors that it is moving in the right direction to achieve a “good” rating.

Numerous changes have been made since the school was told that it required improvement, and the inspector praised head teacher Christine Holbrey for tackling weaknesses in teaching and leadership.

This is good new s indeed in a week in which Ofsted revealed that 76 per cent of primary age children in York attended a good or outstanding school.

We hope Canon Lee will soon be joining them and improve that rating still further.
