DETECTIVES investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a North Yorkshire river say they have identified her.
The body of the elderly woman was found at about 8.50am on Wednesday, December 4, in the River Nidd at Knaresborough, near Mother Shipton’s Cave.
Police confirmed this morning that she has been identified as a woman from Harrogate aged in her seventies but are not able to release further details to the public at this time.
A spokesman said police did not believe the death was suspicious, and detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
He also thanked the public for their responses to images of the woman’s jewellery which were released earlier this week to help identify her.
