Si by Giorgio Armani 30ml £44
They say: The fragrance opens with notes of Sicilian bergamot, mandarin oil and liquer de cassis. A modern and elegant chypre, featuring patchouli, vanilla and rose with earthy and woody aromatics.
We say: Initially this is a bit overpowering and sweet, but it does settle into a lovely exotic fragrance and lasts for hours.
Verdict: 3/5
Carven Le Parfum 30ml £38
They say: Perfumer Francis Kurkdjian wanted this fragrance to “resemble a huge bouquet of freshly cut flowers”. Le Parfum blends mandarin blossom and delicate white hyacinth with a precious woody base of sandalwood and patchouli.
We say: Light, fresh and floral, perfect for summer or daytime. Our only reservation is that it lacks a bit of impact.
Verdict: 3/5
Alien by Thierry Mugler 30ml £44
They say: This spectacular feminine fragrance conveys passion and sensuality.
A rich, floral, woody, amber containing jasmine sambac, cashmeran wood and white amber, it is a fragrance to awaken your emotions.
We say: This makes a statement: musky and spicy, almost masculine.
Definitely one for after dark. Long lasting.
Verdict: 3.5/5
Roses de Chloe 50ml £52
They say: Roses de Chloe opens with bergamot, which uplifts the core rose note. A heart of damascene rose essence blends with a modern, pure magnolia note, before white musk and amber swathe the body with their blushing warmth.
We say: The best of this year’s selection: floral and fresh, but sophisticated, almost old fashioned. A pretty scent, perfect for daytime, and a safe bet for a Christmas gift.
Verdict: 4/5
