The Hamleys top ten Christmas toys list is now out, and if your youngsters are hankering after a pet for Christmas it’s good news – because the spotlight falls on electronic creatures.
Furby Boom Waves
This is the second of a new generation of Furbies and improves on last year’s hit toy in a number of ways. Children can interact with it through their tablet or smartphone and can even have it lay digital eggs and raise virtual babies.

Chasin’ Cheeky
There used to be a phrase ‘Fun for all ages’ and of all the toys in the Top Ten we think this is the one that fits the bill.
It’s given as age 3 and above, but it’s for big kids as well as little ones (especially those disguised as adults).
The aim is to lob rings onto the Chasin’ Cheeky monkey’s tail in the old hoopla style and try to grab a banana out of his mouth.
The winner gets to dance with the monkey. Simple but fun. You have to be there, really, as the saying goes.

Are you up with the Monster High DVD? OK, quick catch-up for you – the freaky schoolmates go to a 13 Wishes party, so here we are with a set of freakishly fabulous dolls based on the characters in the party clothes from the DVD.

Doc McStuffins is the star of a big hit TV show about a little girl who wants to be a doctor.

LeapPad Ultra Green
The LeapPad Explorer tablet for was one of the best-selling toys in recent years. Bigger than the standard version, the LeapPad Ultra has been toughened up, no doubt in response to consumer feedback. You can choose green or pink.
Users can write and draw on the seven-inch high-resolution screen as well as using it for games or as a video recorder. There’s an MP3 player and front and back cameras. It comes with 11 custom apps and works with many more from the LeapPad library.

Lego Chima Lion Chi Temple
Ah … where would we be without Lego? In fact, you could buy any age-appropriate Lego and be on to a winner, but this intriguing new set features the Lion Chi Temple, the scene of long tribal warfare in the Legends Of Chima series.
Cragger, Razar and Crawley are leading their tribes in a struggle to reach the sacred Chi orb located high above the temple.
The set includes seven figures with weapons, a rotating tower cannon and an eagle drone fighter. There’s a drawbridge trap, a waterfall and a lion gate. It’s not cheap but there’s a huge amount to play with and it looks like becoming one of the classic Lego sets.

We’re not getting into stereotypes with this one, but it’s a hair thing with the VIP pets, so make your own decision! Each one comes with her own styling accessories and has a unique personality.
VIP pets include rock star Gwen, hippy Nyla, party planner Lady GiGi and fashion designer Tiffany.
Age 6 and above
Teksta Robotic Puppy
The Teksta puppy has state-of-the-art sensors that respond to light, sound and physical gestures. He barks, whimpers, sits and does backflips. He can wag his tail, move his ears and even come when called – but he won’t wet the carpet.
