Like Loaded magazine, TFI Friday & liking Tony Blair M-People summed up the 90’s.with their post Hacienda pop The aptly named Heather Small appeared untouched by time her in an elegant red dress. The only difference her hair no longer defies gravity as it did.

The sell-out room rose as one to “One night in Heaven”

A 10 piece were led by MD Snake Davis on sax & the Duracell-powered Shovel . Everyone on stage was smiling & loving performing to such a partisan crowd.

Small’s unique vocals were faultless with the audience baffled where such power hails from such a tiny frame.

Although a lot of the songs have a common thread the arrangements & instrumentation varied from Spanish solo guitar to the mighty guest vocals of Lincoln on “Don’t look any further”.

The star of the show was local hero Snake Davis who for 90 minutes showed why he deserves his vast CV. On flute & saxes he held the audience in awe with his complete musicianship- from subtle soprano work on “Search for the Hero” to going into orbit with effortless control on the “Angel street” It took me back to Charmers days of old.

Shovel jumped from behind his congas to introduce the band-a force of nature who adds so much to the sound.

Itchycoo Park had the crowd athrong & a uplifting “Movin on Up” topped the show.

Ms Small should be “Proud” as she is so much more than a gag on Miranda
