FESTIVAL goers enjoyed rain and shine at another popular Galtres Festival.

About 8,000 revellers descended on Duncombe Park, Helmsley, for a line-up including The Stranglers, Maximo Park, Reef and The Undertones.

A spokesman for Galtres Festival said yesterday: “The atmosphere has been great, we have had cracking good bands and are really looking forward to The Stranglers and The Undertones. The audience for Lloyd Cole was packed and he got a standing ovation.

“There has been mixed weather including quite torrential rain on Friday, but it didn’t seem to deter people.”

The festival, which was held at Crayke last year, also had an array of food, drink and craft stalls.

Police were appealing for information after four thefts were reported from tents between 8pm on Friday and 5am on Saturday, including a wallet, ipad and iphone.

Festival organisers yesterday said no further thefts had been reported since Saturday.
