MOTORISTS are being warned to expect extra traffic on roads between York and Leeds when the annual Leeds Festival is staged over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Highways Agency says drivers should carefully plan their journeys to minimise disruption and their travelling time.
“This year, all festival traffic will be directed from the A1(M) at junction 45 (Boston Spa) along West Woods Road and Paradise Way,” said a spokesman.
“An additional route will be available on Thursday – the busiest day for travel – via junction 44, the A1(M)/A64 Bramham Interchange.
“Traffic will exit here and continue on the A64 westbound towards Leeds on a designated two lane one-way system before turning into the festival car parks opposite the Dogs Trust.
“In order to manage this additional route, the A64 is being closed to all through eastbound traffic from the Fox And Grapes public house from midnight on Wednesday until 5am on Friday.”
