THE final day of filming in York for a major new BBC drama saw the appearance of The Americans star Matthew Rhys on the city’s streets.
The Welsh actor, who also appeared in American show Brothers And Sisters and played renowned poet Dylan Thomas in The Edge Of Love, is among the cast of Death Comes To Pemberley, which is due to be screened at Christmas.
The series is based on a novel by PD James which tells the story of Pride And Prejudice’s Elizabeth and Mr Darcy five years into their marriage.
Its makers, Origin Pictures, have been filming at locations around York – including St William’s College, the Eye of York and the Treasurer’s House – over the last week. It also stars Trevor Eve, Jenna-Louise Coleman and Matthew Goode.
The cast and crew were today set to move to Beverley for the next stage of filming. Locations have also included Castle Howard, Harewood House and Chatsworth House.
