CHILDREN and teachers at Clifton Moor Pre-School were delighted to receive a visit from a friendly lion who presented them with a very generous donation.
Mal the lion, mascot of the Minster Lions, a service organisation offering community support throughout York, presented the pre-school, in Oakdale Road, with a cash donation and a variety of reading and drawing books.
The club made the £100 donation following the theft of a school laptop several weeks ago which was paid for by the fundraising efforts of the pupils.
President of the Minster Lions, George Bennett, who was also at the presentation, said: “We wanted to give them a donation for the software that was stolen and to give the kids, their parents and the teachers a boost.
“It was an excellent event for us and really well received. The kids really enjoyed it and Mal was rolling around on the floor giving them big hugs.”
