A PARTY has been held in a popular York park to mark its birthday.
An event was held today to mark the 92nd birthday of Rowntree Park, which was given to the people of York by the Rowntree Company in 1921 in memory of workers who fell during the First World War.
Since then it has become tradition to hold an event to mark the anniversary in July.
Entertainment organised by Friends of Rowntree Park and City of York Council included Japanese drumming with have-a-go sessions, a falconry display and a fun dog show which had a category for everyone from waggiest tail to the best pooch smooch.
Over 30 local community and charity stalls were there along with bouncy castles, refreshments, face-painting, juggling, storytelling, willow weaving and miniature railway rides.
